Enhancing Retail Space with Bespoke Joinery Solutions
Project Overview: PH Woodwork was tasked with designing and creating bespoke cabinetry for Communique Wine shop located in Stockbridge, Edinburgh.
The client's brief emphasised maximising storage while maintaining a 'modern heritage' aesthetic, utilising the vertical space due to limited floor area.
Design Innovation - The Sliding Ladder: The challenge of reaching upper shelves in a space with 3.5m high walls prompted the inclusion of a sliding ladder. This feature not only fulfilled functional needs but also complemented the shop's classic ambiance. The decision to integrate a sliding ladder was made during the design phase to enhance accessibility and aesthetic appeal.
Installation Expertise: Incorporating the sliding ladder hardware into the cabinetry design required precision and craftsmanship. PH Woodwork's experience with such hardware facilitated a seamless integration, despite initial challenges with stile thickness. A bespoke ladder was crafted using matching ash timber, aligning perfectly with the shop's interior theme curated by @franholden.design.
Maximising Storage Efficiency: The addition of the sliding ladder significantly enhanced storage accessibility, ensuring that every inch of vertical space was utilised effectively. This solution not only optimised storage capacity but also contributed to a safer and more attractive shopping environment compared to conventional ladders.
