Elevating Design with a Custom Ladder in a Victorian Home Renovation

Project Overview: Karen, the creative mind behind @upstyleyourhome, embarked on a significant renovation of her 1870s Victorian home, including a spacious kitchen extension.
Working closely with Higham Furniture, recommended by her architect, Karen aimed to combine practicality and aesthetic appeal in her kitchen design.

Customer's Vision: Karen envisioned maximising storage with tall cabinets that utilised the high ceilings in her new kitchen extension. Inspired by her admiration for library aesthetics seen in boutique hotels, she wanted a functional yet stylish solution for accessing upper cabinets.

Higham Furniture's Solution: Higham Furniture proposed a bespoke ladder and rail system to complement Karen's vision. Collaborating with the Library Ladder Company, they ensured the ladder not only facilitated easy access to high cabinets but also added a distinctive design element to the kitchen.

Ladder Integration and Installation: Installation was seamless, with Higham Furniture adjusting cabinetry heights to perfectly accommodate the ladder and rail system. This custom approach ensured that functionality and design seamlessly merged in Karen's kitchen space.

Customer Experience: Karen is thrilled with the ladder's performance and aesthetic contribution to her home. It not only enhances accessibility to high storage areas but also serves as a focal point that aligns with her interior style.

Design Inspiration: Karen draws inspiration from various sources, including interior design media and commercial spaces known for their bold designs. Her meticulous approach to mood boards and material selection ensured a cohesive and visually appealing kitchen design.

Aesthetic Choices: The ladder's Colron Jacobean Dark Oak finish complements the kitchen island's aesthetic, while the cabinets in "Three Farm Green" by LG provide a modern contrast against the Victorian backdrop.
Karen's collaboration with Higham Furniture highlights how thoughtful design choices, such as integrating a custom ladder, can transform a historic home. The ladder not only enhances functionality but also adds a touch of sophistication, demonstrating the seamless blend of practicality and style in modern interior design. This project showcases Karen's passion for interiors and her successful partnership with Higham Furniture in achieving a beautifully functional kitchen space.
