Description

The LIN-X Lateral Opening Door System is a concealed sliding solution for cabinet and wardrobe doors, allowing doors to glide smoothly across the cabinet opening rather than swinging outward. Designed for situations where pocketing space is limited, it offers soft-close operation and a clean, unobtrusive finish for modern joinery.

Available in multiple sizes to suit light cabinetry through to tall wardrobes and storage walls.

750-850mm door width is supplied in white but is available in black - please contact us for details.

Please note:  Doors are not included

The Sugatsune LIN-X lateral opening door system is designed for cabinet and wardrobe applications where traditional hinged doors or pocket door systems are not suitable.

Instead of swinging open or retracting into the cabinet, doors slide laterally across the opening on concealed, top-hung hardware. This makes the LIN-X system ideal for shallow cabinetry, appliance housings and joinery where internal pocket depth is not available.

The system features integrated soft-close action for smooth, controlled movement and is engineered to support a range of door sizes and weights depending on the selected system variant. Hardware is concealed within the cabinet structure, maintaining a refined, architectural appearance.

  • Compliance with international manufacturing and environmental standards

Rather than focusing on short product lifecycles, Sugatsune’s approach prioritises durability, repairability and long-term performance as the most responsible environmental strategy.

Why we specify Sugatsune

We work with Sugatsune for projects that demand:

Frequently Asked Questions

Cabinet & Wardrobe Lateral Opening Door Systems (UK)

What is a lateral opening door system?

A lateral opening door system allows doors to slide smoothly across the cabinet rather than swinging outward. This keeps the opening completely clear and is ideal for spaces where hinged doors would obstruct access.

Where are lateral door systems commonly used?

Lateral door systems are commonly used in:

  • Appliance garages
  • Utility cupboards
  • Pantry units
  • Home offices
  • Wardrobes and storage walls

They are particularly popular in modern UK joinery and bespoke cabinetry projects.

Are these lateral door systems suitable for kitchens?

Yes. Sugatsune lateral door systems are widely used in kitchens, especially for appliance garages and tall storage units. The soft-close mechanism and concealed hardware make them ideal for everyday use in busy household environments.

Do the doors sit flush when closed?

Yes. When correctly specified and installed, the doors sit flush and aligned when closed. The hinges are not visible, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted cabinet front.

Are the doors included with the lateral opening door system?

No. The lateral door system is supplied as hardware only. Doors are made separately by a joiner or cabinet maker to suit your project. This allows full flexibility over materials, finishes, and detailing.

How many doors are required for each system?

The number of doors depends on each individual project.

Each variant is designed to work with a specific width, height and weight configuration for smooth and stable operation.

Are Sugatsune lateral opening door systems soft-close?

Yes. These systems include an integrated soft-close mechanism, allowing the doors to slide smoothly and quietly into the cabinet without slamming.

Are Sugatsune products suitable for professional joinery projects?

Absolutely. Sugatsune hardware is widely specified by:

  • Joiners
  • Cabinet makers
  • Interior designers
  • Architects

Their products are engineered for durability, precision adjustment, and long-term performance.

What door weights and sizes are supported?

A range of configurations allow for doors weights up to 40kg and heights from 600-2980mm.

Always select the size range that matches your project requirements.

Are these systems available in the UK?

Yes. We supply Sugatsune lateral door systems throughout the UK. Lead times vary depending on configuration, with some items ordered specifically for your project.

Can you help me choose the correct lateral door system?

Yes. Our team can help you select the correct system based on:

  • door size and weight
  • cabinet design
  • intended use

If you are unsure, we recommend contacting us before ordering.

Are these suitable for residential or commercial use?

These systems are primarily designed for residential joinery, but are also suitable for light commercial environments such as offices, hospitality storage, and fitted furniture.
