Rubio Monocoat Wood Finishes

Rubio Monocoat is a professional-grade wood finishing system designed to protect and enhance solid timber using a single-coat technology. Renowned for its exceptionally low VOC content, it offers durable, breathable protection while preserving the natural character of real wood.

We have introduced Rubio Monocoat as a compatible finish for solid timber joinery, including components used within our ladder systems, where maintaining grip, texture and natural grain is essential.

Why We Chose Rubio Monocoat

When finishing solid timber elements — particularly those subject to regular touch and use — surface build-up and heavy lacquers can compromise both appearance and practicality. Rubio Monocoat’s molecular bonding technology allows the wood to remain tactile and breathable, making it well suited to architectural joinery and ladder components.

  • One-Coat Technology - Bonds at a molecular level for durable, even protection without layering.
  • Exceptionally Low VOCs - Safe for interior use with minimal odour — ideal for residential and commercial projects.
  • Natural Matt Finish - Enhances the grain and texture of real wood without creating a plastic surface.
  • Professional-Grade Performance - Used by furniture makers, joiners and architects for high-end interior projects.
  • Easy Maintenance & Repair - Spot repairs are simple — no sanding back entire surfaces.

Rubio Monocoat FAQs

What makes Rubio Monocoat different from traditional wood oils?

Rubio Monocoat bonds molecularly to wood fibres, meaning only one coat is required. Traditional oils rely on multiple layers and surface build-up.

Is Rubio Monocoat suitable for interior use?

Yes. Rubio Monocoat has exceptionally low VOC levels, making it ideal for interior furniture, flooring and joinery.

Can Rubio Monocoat be used on panelling and mouldings?

Rubio Monocoat is suitable for solid timber panelling and joinery only. Our wall panelling and mouldings are manufactured from polyurethane and do not require oil-based finishes. Rubio Monocoat is therefore intended for use on real wood surfaces rather than synthetic materials.

Is Rubio Monocoat easy to maintain?

Yes. Surfaces can be spot-repaired without sanding the entire area, making long-term maintenance simple. Also the Universal Maintenance Oil can be used to refresh wood treated with Oil Plus 2C.
