The ALT-ST15 is a cabinet-scale pocket door system designed to allow doors to slide smoothly back into the cabinet or joinery carcass, keeping openings clear and unobstructed. It is ideal for kitchens, utility cupboards, appliance garages and residential joinery where traditional hinged doors would restrict access.

The system is available in two configurations to suit different door styles:

  • ALT-ST15-D10 – for overlay doors, where doors sit on the face of the cabinet

Frequently Asked Questions

Cabinet & Wardrobe Pocket Door Systems (UK)

What is a cabinet pocket door system?

A cabinet pocket door system allows doors to slide neatly back into the cabinet carcass rather than opening outward on hinges. This keeps the opening completely clear and is ideal reminding spaces where hinged doors would obstruct access.

Where are pocket door systems commonly used?

Pocket door systems are commonly used in:

  • Kitchens and larders
  • Appliance garages
  • Utility cupboards
  • Home offices
  • Wardrobes and storage walls

They are particularly popular in modern UK joinery and bespoke cabinetry projects.

Are these pocket door systems suitable for kitchens?

Yes. Sugatsune cabinet pocket door systems are widely used in kitchens, especially for appliance garages and tall storage units. The soft-close mechanism and concealed hardware make them ideal for everyday use in busy household environments.

Do the doors sit flush when closed?

Yes. When correctly specified and installed, both overlay and inset pocket door systems sit flush and aligned when closed, maintaining a clean, uninterrupted cabinet front.

What is the difference between overlay and inset pocket doors?
  • Overlay doors sit on the face of the cabinet and cover the cabinet opening.
  • Inset doors sit flush within the cabinet opening for a more traditional or architectural look.

Different hardware variants are required for overlay and inset applications.

Are the doors included with the pocket door system?

No. The pocket door system is supplied as hardware only. Doors are made separately by a joiner or cabinet maker to suit your project. This allows full flexibility over materials, finishes, and detailing.

Are Sugatsune pocket door systems soft-close?

Yes. These systems include an integrated soft-close mechanism, allowing the doors to retract smoothly and quietly into the cabinet without slamming.

Are Sugatsune products suitable for professional joinery projects?

Absolutely. Sugatsune hardware is widely specified by:

  • Joiners
  • Cabinet makers
  • Interior designers
  • Architects

Their products are engineered for durability, precision adjustment, and long-term performance.

What door weights and sizes are supported?

Different configurations support different door weights and heights. Cabinet-scale systems typically support doors up to 15kg per door, with door heights ranging from 500mm to 1600mm, depending on configuration.

Always select the size range that matches your project requirements.

Are these systems available in the UK?

Yes. We supply Sugatsune pocket door systems throughout the UK. Lead times vary depending on configuration, with some items ordered specifically for your project.

Can you help me choose the correct pocket door system?

Yes. Our team can help you select the correct system based on:

  • door size and weight
  • cabinet design
  • inset or overlay style
  • intended use

If you are unsure, we recommend contacting us before ordering.

Are these suitable for residential or commercial use?

These systems are primarily designed for residential joinery, but are also suitable for light commercial environments such as offices, hospitality storage, and fitted furniture.
